An overview of the lake with the top of the lake referred to as the northern end of the lake and where it forks
are the Saluda and Reedy Rivers and tends to be the shallowest end of the lake, as you go south it gets
deeper and on the lower southern end of the lake, closet to the dam it is the deepest and widest. The red areas
are Habitat restricted areas and docks are not allowed at these points, all the green areas are dock-able per
2002 FERC ruling. They are subject to reinspect the lake at any given time and change their rulings in any
area of the lake. Buyers of vacant land are urged to go ahead and build their docks as soon after purchase
and approval for a dock, even if they are not planning to build right away. Once the dock is built the permit
stands and can be transferred if property is sold. A dock permit by itself can be revoked if a new ruling by
FERC designates your property as habitat restricted. That rarely happens but it has happened.
